The Dragon Boat Festival is one of the most important traditional holidays in China, with a history of over 2,000 years. It falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. The festival primarily commemorates Qu Yuan, a patriotic poet and minister from the ancient State of Chu. When his homeland was conquered, he drowned himself in the Miluo River out of deep sorrow. Local people rushed in boats to save him or retrieve his body. To prevent fish from eating his body, they threw rice dumplings into the water. This origin story gave rise to the festival's two most famous traditions. The Dragon Boat Festival in 2026 falls on June 19.

Key Traditions Include:

1.Dragon Boat Racing:Teams row long, narrow boats shaped like dragons to the beat of drums. It’s an exciting sport that symbolizes teamwork and energy.
